I couldn't bring myself to pay the extravagant amounts asked for Scoops
from overseas,so I decided to attempt my own :)
Scoop measures 6inches(w) and about 4-5inches(h) and 8-9inches(d)
I searched and found some stainless sheet with holes in already
Cut the templates myself at home and took it down to a local factory who did the welding
professionally for next to nothing
I am quite pleased with the result :)
A blog about some Metal Detecting Trips and Finds in New Zealand. We go Water Detecting mainly but also do some old spots depending on our research. Have to try and keep track of all the 'hunts' :)

Finally...Something Worthwhile Posting
Have not had much luck in the last few outings, but I went out yesterday and got a bit of everything :)
Some Small Badges
A few Silvers
And The GrandPrize for the day...
An Antique Rose Gold ring from the 1920s-1930s
Unfortunately it is not a natural Ruby as it is a 5ct stone...but hey...I can dream a little :):)
It has a makers mark but it is too worn to make it out

Big Old Silver and a Antique Thimble
The Sterling Thimble and 1912 UK Half Crown came from the same site
The Half Crown was pretty much as deep as the detector would pick it up with a VDI reading,I
almost gave up thinking it was large deep rusted iron, filled the hole back in after not being able to find anything with the pinpointer the first time.....I decided to rescan and it was still picking up a feint high reading
so I dug again and after going slightly deeper than the length of the pinpointer I found it :)
Must say I was quite happy that I listened to my gut feeling and kept going.

GCF produces more Silver
I have not been out in a while so I decided to go out to GCF for the umpteenth time this morning
I went for some deep detecting, digging all those iffy signals and it turns out it wasn't for nought :)
I am convinced there will be some gold jewellery there as well but as of yet I have just been doing the
higher conductivity stuff as there must be a kazillion pulltab signals there and I have to motivate
myself to go and dig them all to find the possible rings hidden amongst it
A nice chunk of .925 Silver
A lot of junky stuff as I was digging everything above my selected VDI

Some Silver and an Old pocket watch
I have not been out too much lately
So only a few things to show :)
The watch has an inscription and date on the back,I am trying to track down the owner but no luck so far and I don't fancy my chances seeing that he most likely would have been a young lad in the 1940-50s
Two similar Sterling Heart rings in the same week....bizarre :)

Old Damaged Silver :(
- Sampson Mordan continued manufacturing pencils and a wide range of silver objects until the Second World war when their factory was bombed.
- Invented the propelling pencil.
This appears to be a Silver pencil holder from somewhere between 1852- 1910...hallmarks are too worn
Intact it would have looked something like this possibly

Going through my 'Junk Jewellery Jar' and discovered 7 Silvers
Was not in the mood to go out today and thought I would go through my Junk Jar
Turns out that it wasn't all Junk :):):)
I should have taken before and after Pics as these pieces of Silver were black/copper/brown/green/encrusted/corroded etc.and some of them must have been in the sea for a veeeeeery long time as they are like half the original weight/thickness I would guess
Even Steel wool could not revive them properly but hey it's Silver
